Other Factors
These include anything else that may be a risk to the health and safety of workers, such as
- lifting equipment
- personal protective equipment (PPE), for example if chemicals are being moved.
These factors may make a task more difficult to complete or may require additional training.
Psychosocial Factors
You also need to take account of psychosocial risk factors that may affect workers’ psychological responses to their work and workplace conditions. For example:
- Is the work repetitive or tedious?
- Is the work machine or system paced?
- Do workers feel the demands of the work are excessive?
- Do colleagues have control of the work and working methods?
- Is communication between managers and workers poor?

- Rotating and varying tasks to reduce monotony and use other muscle groups
- Making more use of workers' skills
- Making workloads and deadlines more achievable
- Involving workers in decision making
