Some manual handling tasks call for more than one pair of hands, for example when the load is too heavy for one person, difficult to grip, awkward to control or bulky.

However, team handling presents its own issues including:

• Poor communication
• Poor co-ordination
• Difference in height.
• Speed of movement etc of the individuals carrying out the task
• Awkward areas - in cramped areas, the more handlers for team handling, the more cramped it becomes.
