Stigma - the truth
There is a lot of stigma and misinformation surrounding mental health. Below are a few of the most common misconceptions.
- Mental health problems are rare - this is not true
- People can't work if they have mental health problems - this is not true. There is a wide range of mental health issues, different levels of severity, and it depends largely on the job they have. Working can be beneficial for some.
- People with mental health problems are violent - this is not true.
- People cannot recover from a mental illness - false
